It’s 2015. Where is America? America is missing. America is gone. My country is not the country I grew up in and grew old in. My country is now some other country, it is not America. None of the values which made America, well, America, are present in the new generations being raised in this nation.
No longer a nation "of the people, by the people, and for the people", America is now a nation "of the government, by the government, and for the government." America is no longer is a nation of "individuals" but a nation of local, state and federal government bureaucrats and politicians running our lives. Gone is the founding guiding document, The U.S. Constitution, which exists to protect citizens from its government. The sacred U.S. Constitution has been replaced by “we use it if we feel like it”.
Also missing in action are the concepts of:
Personal responsibility. The taking of responsibility for one’s life and one’s actions.
Opportunity. Not a right but rather something you have to take advantage of.
Freedom. The individual freedom to live your life the way you wish, so long as you harm no one.
Personal responsibility, not a government wish list. Personal opportunity: a basic education, hard work and earning a living, not being handed a life, and being controlled, by the government. Personal freedom from government intervention in all areas of one’s personal life.
America is no longer America – land of the free and home of the brave. We in America are no longer free and no longer brave. We have become a nation of losers, not winners. We have become a nation of whiners, not winners. It’s time to face that fact. I have done that: I have decided not to pine for the past but to acknowledge and accept the future. To that end, I hereby call for an official name change for the United States of America. It is no longer united and is no longer America. America now needs to be officially renamed, it now needs to be called something else.
If you agree, let’s get the ball rolling. Contact your government representatives in Washington immediately and demand an official name change for our once-great, once-free, now bordering-on-extinction country called The United States of America, aka America.
Welcome to the New America.
It turns out that Abraham Lincoln was correct.
