mock the royal dog, go to jail

from Time.com

"A Thai man faces up to 37 years in prison for mocking the king’s dog over social media, an apparent violation of Thailand’s stringent laws against insults aimed at the country’s monarchy.

Authorities arrested factory worker Thanakorn Siripaiboon at his home in suburban Bangkok last week and charged him with writing a “sarcastic” Internet post about Tongdaeng, the mongrel owned by King Bhumibol Adulyadej, as well as with sedition and insulting the King, reports the New York Times."

In Thailand you can't make fun of your leaders - or their dogs? If you do you go to jail? For 37 years? I guess they never heard of freedom of speech. I guess we have it pretty good here in America, which has a Constitution which guarantees any asshole the right to speak freely against the government, or its dogs.

If you think America is such a bad place maybe you should move to a country where you have no rights and no freedoms, where the government controls everything, where the government controls what you can, and can't, do and say. Then you'll have something to compare America to.
