the government has my phone records

This week The Stu Pitt Award goes to ...

The Obama Administration

for collecting my private data

It seems that U.S. government intelligence agencies have been collecting the telephone information of millions of Verizon customers. In addition, under a program named Prism, according to the Guardian, a British newspaper, "the NSA (National Security Agency) has obtained access to the servers of nine giant Internet companies including Google, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo, Skype and AOL. The access has allowed the NSA to monitor user behavior – email, chat, uploads, downloads – on sites associated with those companies."

The U.S. government has collected data on millions of private citizens in America? Millions of citizens of the United States of America? Why? In case they are terrorists?

I am a Verizon subscriber. I am an AOL subscriber. I am registered with Google. I am registered with Microsoft. I am a Yahoo member. I am a registered user of Skype. I am also an American citizen. I am not now, nor have ever been, a terrorist. Yet the government has secretly acquired my phone records, my email records, my downloads? My blog posts??? The government can find out what I buy online? What porn sites I might visit? WHY? IT IS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!

"Is it just me, or is secret blanket surveillance obscenely outrageous?" former vice president Al Gore wrote on Twitter.

"This is an all-out assault on the constitution," U.S. Senator Rand Paul wrote in the Guardian.

In case you elected and appointed U.S. government officials have never read the Constitution of the United States of America here is the 4th amendment under the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments of the Constitution) ...

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Hey, Obama Administration, is that clear and simple enough for you? What is it about UNREASONABLE search and seizure that you don't understand? Secret blanket surveillance is unconstitutional. Then, why did you do it??? Why did you ignore my/our rights under the Constitution of the United States of America?

Congratulations Obama Administration, you completely ignored the U.S. Constitution and the Bill Of Rights. Again. For that, you again deservedly earn this week's Stu Pitt Award!
